When
an person consults an attorney it is usually a
reactionary step rather than a precautionary measure.
This is a mistake, and in some cases a very costly one. A
couple examples show exactly what I mean: 1) A business whose
salesman leaves with the most lucrative customers, only to find
out that the non-competition agreement is useless in court. 2)
The dream property sold out from under a purchaser who thought,
incorrectly, that they had a valid contract. 3) A family who
begins quarreling after the mothers death, never to speak to
each other again over an inheritance. These are just three
situations where an investment in legal advise under $1000,
would have saved over $30,000 in legal fees later - not to
mention the loss of customers, family relations, and a life long
dream.
As
my father used to say, it's the 5 'P's: Prior Preparation
Prevents Poor Performance. I originally went into law
to help people and I do my best work before a dispute
arises. I believe that
a lawyer who genuinely cares about his clients and who gives them
quality legal representation will have more clients than
he can handle.
Over the past
several years, I have noticed that many of my friends and
business associates are in need of legal help, yet many of them are intimidated
by lawyers.
Who can blame
them?
Leave it to
the lawyers to complicate anything! I have identified three
main barriers to getting legal help and designed my office to
overcome them...
"I
don't have enough time to meet with my lawyer..."
"Lawyers
cost too much..."
"Which
specialty do I need?..."
